Style File: Queen Máxima dazzles in Natan

We kick off another week at The Royal Digest with a 'Style File' post. We glanced over recent royal news and discovered one look we just had to share.

On Saturday, the Dutch Royal Family attended a special performance in Rotterdam to celebrate Princess Beatrix's reign (yes, now that Beatrix has abdicated she is once again styled as Princess). It was a night to mark Beatrix's time as Queen and the current Queen, Máxima, looked incredibly regal in a gorgeous gown by her go-to designer Natan.

The gown comes from designer's 2013 Autumn/Winter Couture Collection. Below we see it in brown, though I much prefer the blue, as it seems to show the silhouette of the frock much better and it worked excellently with Maxima's blonde hair.

Máxime accessorised with sapphire and diamond jewels, you'll note the Queen wore the brooch on her waist, a very nice change and an additional element to look. Royal fans may not be familiar with the striking brooch as it has been in the vault for decades. It was originally acquired back in 1872 and worn by Queen Wilhelmina.

Máxima's pretty silver clutch is by a little-known but up-and-coming designer from the Philippines called Celestina. The brand's designs are now carried by Net-A-Porter and available to purchase online. The woven silver filigree clutch originally retailed for $1695 and is described as adding a touch of "erotic-luxe" to any look. As you can see it's quite different - opening in the middle and detaching.

Máxima completed the look with a shawl and an elegant updo.

We wrap today's Style File up with a look at Natan's Spring/Summer 2014 Collection. Plenty to like in terms of design and colourways, not to mention endless options for the fabulous Queen Máxima.

    That brooch and earrings!!

I like the dress better in blue as well, but it would have been nice if she'd have done over the elbow gloves as the model is wearing in your photo.

  2. OMG. Thank you Charlotte. I love Maxima and I am thrilled to see this post. :) And I third the blue being a better choice, especially with her blonde hair.

And bluhare, the jewelry is nothing short of a major, jaw-dropping WOW. And I like the brooch at the waist like that. It's a nice, modern twist.

Beatrix needs to figure out where her eyes are, though, and pencil in her brows accordingly. :)

    2. LOL.

Note to me: check makeup *very* carefully before meeting bluhare for coffee.

Grooming is very important, royalfan! :)

But check out the necklace in the portrait. Wouldn't that have just killed it if Kate had been able to wear it with that ink blue gown we both loved?

PS I think it's sad Beatrix had to revert back to Princess. I think everyone needs a Queen Bea!

PPS I'm also really enjoying trying to figure out what "erotic luxe" is!!!

    5. Oh, without a doubt Kate would have killed it with that necklace. And it is definitely one that calls for an up-do.

Regarding "erotic luxe"..... I'm thinking it MUST be good because my "Google SafeSearch" has blocked my inquiring mind from going there!! LOL.
