Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary Pay Tribute to Danish Soldiers

The Crown Princely couple lead tributes for fallen soldiers during the annual military service at the Citadel in Copenhagen. In 2009, 'Flag Day' was given the specific date of 5 September to be honoured each year.

A brief silence was observed after the wreath laying ceremony to pay respects to those who lost their lives in warfare. Those present included Danish politicians, the Deputy Prime Minister and members of the Danish Air Force, the navy and the army.

Crown Prince Frederik was attired in military uniform and carried his ceremonial sabre. As always Crown Princess Mary looked elegant and appropriately dressed for the event.

The Princess looked stylish in a gorgeous floral skirt from the H&M Conscious Collection. It's a piece she's had for quite a while and always mixes it up when she wears it. The black peplum top is a Hugo Boss design with a jewel neck and three-quarter-length sleeves. It's tailored with angled princess seams and a gently flared peplum hem.

Mary selected a pair of nude heels by Christian Louboutin.

Mary completed the look with a straw cap from milliner Susanna Juul.

Always enjoy seeing Mary and Frederik at work. Love Mary's outfit. Very appropriate to the occasion. Very interesting to see the kind of engagements of the other European royals, especially a solemn and inportant one like this.

    1. Hello Mellie,

Those photos were so cute. It may have been a late night before the wedding :)

    2. Hello, I read that Crown Prince Frederik had just returned to Europe (I think the wedding took place in Ireland?) after a visit to the USA (Silicon Valley). So I guess he was just tired after the long flight and due to the time difference :).

  3. Yes, the outfit is very appropriate for this occasion. I like the hat too; it's more "Jackie Kennedy" the way it sits on the head vs. some fascinators that are angled towards the face.

    1. It's a great hat. The milliner is exceptionally talented when it comes to framing the face elegantly with her pieces.
